 Since 2011, the Museum of Industry and Railways in Silesia (branch of the Foundation for the Protection of Silesian Industrial Heritage) has been organizing the Steam Locomotive Gala, the international meeting of historic locomotives. Engaged in active, historic steam locomotives from Poland, the Czech Republic and Germany. In the last edition – VI – 6 steam locomotives and more than 15 000 visitors took part.The purpose of our event is to promote the idea of protection of monuments of technology. From the very beginning the Steam Locomotive Gala is designed to allow visitors of our guests the possibility of direct contact with the living monuments of vintage technology, steam engines. Machines that fundamentally changed the face of the world.The Gala has a form of an outdoor exhibition organized on the premises of the former locomotive shed in Jaworzyna Silesia (nowadays the Museum’s headquarters). The exhibition is accompanied by full day presentations of locomotives – on the turntable and train journeys on the most picturesque railway tracks around Jaworzyna Śląska.This year – already the seventh – edition of the Steam Locomotive Gala will take place in slightly modified formula. In addition to steam locomotives, we have also invited vintage utility vehicles – agricultural tractors, road rollers, locomotives or military vehicles to participate in our gold rush. All will be presented on the premises of the Burghaus grange and palace complex in Piotrowice Świdnickie (about 2 km from Silesian Jaworzyna).
